I'm in Seagrove Beach, Florida for summer vacation. The week has
gone by way too quickly, but it's been a good trip. Hoping Hurricane
Fay holds back for the drive home Saturday.
UPDATE: Added
many more photos. Lots of R&R. Visisted Shirley in Lynn Haven.
Jack drove down from Pine Mountain after completing recruitment interviews for the
Navy. Learned that much of the quartz sand along the gulf coast originated from land masses like the Appalachian mountains and washed down the waterways to the shore, leaving mostly pure quartz crystals. Amazing. Ate two pounds of boiled shrimp. Ate at Red Bar in Grayton
Beach. Ate tuna steak and shrimp at Market Cafe. Ate at Bates House
of Turkey in Greenville, Alabama on the way down and back. The place I
stayed was pretty much deserted except a couple people who live in the
building. The beaches were only sparsely occupied, and I usually had a
long stretch to myself. Got the song "Shoreline" by Broken Social
Scene stuck in my head [the only song I know that is in 7/4 meter.]
Had to leave a day early due to hurricane Fay taking a detour through
the gulf.
